William Frederick Penniman reminiscences, 1901 [manuscript].

Reminiscences of the Civil War and the beginning of Reconstruction written by Penniman for his children in about 1901. During the Civil War, Penniman served in the 4th Georgia Regiment, operating chiefly in the southern coastal counties of Georgia and adjacent areas of Florida. Reminiscences recount war experiences, refer to social contacts between Confederate and Union soldiers, and describe the state of society in the area during and after the war.
